Rethinking Drug Laws

Rethinking Drug Laws: Theory, History, Politics, has now been published. It was written between 2019 and 2022 but based on work going back to around 2006. Further details and purchasing information are available on the publisher’s page for the book. You can also buy it from the usual online outlets.

The book is an attempt to bring together my ideas and thinking from over the last 15 years, built on the premise that viewing the ‘drug question’ through the lens of regulation has the potential to generate transformative insights on this most thorny of policy challenges.

Book launch events took place in London and Manchester in November 2023.

A podcast episode introducing the book is available here. Abstracts of the book and its chapters are available here. Part One of the book builds on an earlier paper. Early ideas for Parts Two and Three first appeared in blogs here and here.
